conditional type III
we use this type of conditional to talk about unreal situations in the past. In other words, it is used to talk about things which DID NOT HAPPEN in the past
اي اننا نستخدم هذا النوع من الشرط عندما نريد ان نتكلم عن اشياء لم تحدث في الماضي و بما اننا لا نستطيع تغيير الماضي وجب علينا ان نستخدم conditional type III
form of conditional type III
If calsue --------------------------------main caluse
If + past perfect verb ------------------------- would + have + past participle of verb
If I had studied, -------------------------I would have passed the exam
If I had found her address, ------------------------------- I would have sent an invitation
كل الافعال الموجودة في جمل الشرط اي if caluse تدل على ان هذه الافعال لم تحدث في الماضي و لأنها لم تحصل في الماضي اصبح من المستحيل تغييرها لذا يكون جواب الشرط على هذا الشكل would + have + past participle
و هناك أيضا كلمات اخرى تتضمن معنى الشرط
even if و معها تتبع قاعدة if و لكن المعنى يختلف
even if = حتى لو و هي على عكس if تعطي نتيجة غير المتوقعة
مثلا: if she studies hard, she will pass the exam
مع if اذا اعطيت حال او شرط فان النتيجة لفعل الشرط تكون ضمن المتوقع
اي مثلا في هذه الجملة الكل يتوقع انه لو اي شخص قام بالدراسة فانه سوف ينجح
Even if she studies hard, she won't pass the exam
اما في هذه الجملة مع Even if فالنتيجة لفعل الشرط هي عكس الفعل المتوقع و في هذه الحالة بدلا من ان يكون جواب الشرط هو النجاحتصبح النتيجة الفشل
امثلة اضافية على even if
Even if I had two hours to spare for shopping, I wouldn't go out and buy a suit
Even if he loses his job as Arts Minister, I think he'll continue to serve in the government
Even if I clean and polish it, it still won't look new
whether or not
'Whether or not' expresses the idea that neither one condition or another matters
هذا التعبير يتضمن معنى ان الفعل في حال حدوثه او عدمه، فانه لن يغير اي شء في النتيجة
اما بالنسبة للقاعدة العامة من استعمال صيغ الافعال فهذا التعبير ايضا يتبع قاعدة الـ condional مع if
examples
They won't be able to come whether or not they have enough money
Whether they have money or not, they won't be able to come
unless
تعني = الا اذا
We often use unless which means 'if ... not'
Unless she hurries up, we won't arrive in time
او
If she doesn't hurry up, we won't arrive in time
الفرق بين unless و 'if هو ان unless تستعمل فقط في conditional type I
We won't go unless he arrives soon
In case (that), in the event (that)
تعني "في حال"
'In case' and 'in the event' usually mean that you don't expect something to happen, but if it does... Both are used primarily for future events
تستعمل هذا التعبير للتحدث عن شيء غير المتوقع حدوثه و لكن انت تفترض انه في حال حدث ماذا يمكن ان تفعل
و هو عادة يستعمل للحديث عن الافعال المستقبلية
In the case you need me, I'll be at Tom's
I'll be studying upstairs in the event he calls
Only if
'Only if' means 'only in the case that something happens - and only if'. This form basically means the same as 'if'. However, it does stress the condition for the result
هذا التعبير يعني "فقط في حال حدوث هذا الفعل" و هو بنفس معنى if الا انه يشدد على فعل الشرط لحدوث جواب الشرط او النتيجة
We'll give you your bicycle only if you do well on your exams
Only if you do well on your exams will we give you your bicycle
